Exeter Invitational Tournament - 3/17/18

Post by mpisanti » Sat Jan 20, 2018 11:07 pm

Exeter High School will be hosting an Invitational Tournament on February 10th, 2017.

We will be using NAQT's question set IS-170. This set was used for a few tournaments so far:
- Houston Fall Tournament 2017
- Mizzou
- Cape Girardeau Notre Dame
- Savannah (in March)
All tournaments this set has been used in are found at this link: ... et_id=2893

The format will be 20 tossup/20 bonus, with rebounds on the bonus questions. We will also be using powers, but not negs. The final tournament structure will be determined based on team count. We're looking for 18 teams, but would consider increasing the field if there is enough interest.

Prices are:
- $65 for the first team, $60 for each team from a school after the first.
- $5 discount for each functional buzzer system (up to two discounts per team). Buzzers must accomodate 8 players.
- $15 discount for bringing a moderator.
- $45 minimum per team.

Games will start at 9:00 AM. We will break for lunch around 12:00-12:30 PM. We are aiming to finish up the tournament before 5:00 PM.

Exeter is roughly five minutes away from Cassville, which has several dining options (Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, McDonald's, Sonic, Oriental House, Subway in Walmart, among others).

We will give out individual awards to the top 10 scoring students from the morning games before the afternoon games and a trophy for the 3 top teams as well.

To register, send an e-mail to

Field (4/18):
Clever A
Clever B
Exeter A
Exeter B

Pending (2):
Glendale x2

Exeter has enough players for a few more teams, but would like to keep places open for schools as well.

Updated Field (as of 1-23-2018)

Clever A (2 buzzers, 1 moderator)
Clever B
Wheaton (2 buzzers, 1 moderator)

Glendale A (2 buzzers)
Glendale B

Most of Exeter's teams have already read IS-170 at Mizzou, so they aren't eligible to play in this tournament.

Exeter is currently planning to move its tournament back to the 17th due to the weather forecasts for this weekend.

If any teams are free that weekend and interested, please e-mail me at

I know that the 17th falls during Spring Break for some schools, but we will do our best to make the most of it.
