mound city vs. st. joe christian (@ st. joe christian)--7:00--the returning state champion panthers are looking to maim, kill, and skin the lions and then give their hides to hercules for his fall wardrobe...or something like that

we're returning a few all-staters

dylan rosier (senior)
taylor sharp (junior)
cole rosier (sophomore)

and the other rosier (gage) will be a freshman

we might have had a few others...but i can't remember.

EB 22- Lathrop 12

EB only has 8 guys over 200 lbs... so we are now running a spread off. kind of nice. But the first half we dominated, then played a 3rd quarter that lasted like 45 minutes, and Lathrop made it a game.

mound city - 80 something or 70 something probably

st. joe christian-- less than 70 something probably-

we left at the end of the third when it was 62 to 36--MC up.
Got to love 8-man ball

Tonight at the game when lathrop just turned the ball over and had 4 minutes left in 4th. Someone made the comment the game is now over.. and someone else chimes in with "If this was 8-man it wouldn't" My reply... We play real football here.

8-man is so much fun to watch--11 man's okay...but 8-man is definitely "entertainment"--11-man can be sooo boring. MC football is always exciting. and that's a fact.

South Callaway 19 vs. Winfield 34

We were ahead at the half and they came back to beat us in the fourth quarter.

We lost our all-star quarterback Brent Stieferman to graduation and now our starting QB is a sophomore. He's done well so far but nothing like Brent. Also, I think we're one of the only football teams in the central part of the state to have a girl on our team. She's a beast at football!

As a band member at home, and the away game videographer, I get to catch all the SC football action. Two weeks from now we play our cross-county rivals at North Callaway in the big Callaway Cup game. It will be an even sweeter victory this year, because we just added NC to our conference.

this will sum it up... Marceline class could go 55-1 (winning 4 state titles) and if that 1 loss came to Brookfield their senior year... there time playing for Marceline was a failure. The game is that important, to both sides

You sure? Marceline hasn't won it in seven years. At this rate, even winning it once would be worth calling the season a success.

Let's see... my good friend the Index's Sports Editor (who interned at MLB.com this summer - thank him if you were looking for fantasy baseball info regarding the Cards.) anticipates a close game. I'll stick with his prediction.

OK, so the game was a shutout. The only bright spot for Marceline was the punting.

However...

[color=0a51a1]L-Town PWN3D Ray-Pec! 43-28!!
So much for their winning streak!

McAuley 33 Afton, OK 6.

McAuley needs to stop the run better, and needs to run the ball better. QB Lisle and WR Carr bailed the offense out several times when they simply could get yardage with their stable of RBs.

Afton tried some trickeration in last night's game. Three tailbacks, QB hands off to the star RB #2 (no idea what his name is). #2 simply takes two steps right, and throws it 20+ yards to the end zone. Pass defenced by CB Tim Carr. #2 was a hell of an ahtlete, he was the first guy I've seen to hurdle a guy who was nearly straight up on a run out of the Afton's backfield.

South Callaway 0 vs. Wright City 70

We got shut out badly lastnight. We're an extremely young team this year (only 4 seniors and 9 juniors)...our starting QB is a sophomore. We're also short on big guys to fill in our line.

Wright City is good at intercepting our passes, but part of that I credit to the fact that our QB has not been a strong passer.

Boy, Liberty just sucks at everything, don't they, big guy? I know, I know. And, it wasn't within 2 TDs, so you were almost right on that account at least

I will not be surprised if Liberty wins our class at state. Congratulations on beating Ray-Pec.
And NKC sucks this year. I stayed after to watch the LSN game and just wanted to hit all of my friends on the team because they played like sh*t. Even if they won.
I am ashamed.

Blue Springs held Rockhurst to one touchdown Friday. Dare I quote Sam Mellinger:
http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/high_school/15476299.htm wrote:The new era of Kansas City-area high school football officially began Friday night.

Rockhurst vs. Blue Springs was not the biggest game of the evening. Raymore-Peculiar’s 29-game win streak — which dates back to when the current seniors were freshmen — ended at home in front of an estimated 8,000 fans.

And Liberty High is no longer the area’s high school version of the Indianapolis Colts: nice team, good talent, never wins a big game.

Liberty took one of the biggest regular-season victories in recent memory, beating Ray-Pec, the previous kind of KC-area football, on the road 43-28.

“People always say we’re mild,” Liberty running back Blaine Crow said. “That we’re not great, not bad, just in the middle. But I know the truth. We know the truth.”

They picked up a few more believers Friday night. Ray-Pec had not lost in 1,049 days. They’d beaten their previous 29 opponents by an average of 44-14. Only one team played Ray-Pec closer than 16 points.

The scary thing about Liberty’s win? It could have been worse. Much worse, if Liberty didn’t have fumble problems.

Not that you'd care but Warren County Virginia won its first opener in 5 or 6 years Friday

It would be nice to make the playoffs in Warren County's last year as a unified school

Three straight 6-4 seasons, I'm starting to expect it now (we had ZERO winning seasons from 1978 to 2003!!)

Next year they open Skyline and then the Wildcats must destroy the Chickens I mean Hawks starting in 2007.

Also do they still have 8-man titles in MO? There's a couple schools in VA with under 200 students that feel compelled to field a team -- they usually look on the short end of a score.

After the first week on team stands out for the perfect 0-16 season. That is right the Oakland Raiders. Where the Def is sorta good, San Diego just ran the ball rivers only passed it 11 times and they still couldn't win. I think we have something special going on in Oakland
