Took you long enough to post that... and after hearing it enough times the real version came up on random a couple days ago and it sounded wrong!DeckardCain wrote:This most definitely does not suck.

Finally figuring out how to watch the NHL playoffs on my computer. (The fact that I don't get the cable channel on which the games are usually airing would go in the "things that suck" thread.)

Winning sectionals and getting to go to state brain bowl for a third time?
Although admittedly, North Andrew frankly wasn't much of a challenge... The first game at least was 305 to 45 or something like that.
But enough about quiz bowl...
As for something else that doesn't suck, how about getting first place at State FBLA in Technology Concepts and qualifying for the National FBLA Conference?

The FE being easier than expected... especially considering I didn't prepare for it at all since I merely have to take it to graduate.

Being on the front of MSHSAA's home page. They could have picked better looking people though. We aren't exactly models. Or are we...

Yeah, I'd agree with that not sucking. We were on MSHSAA's homepage I believe it was my sophomore year, but they used a picture of the team from my freshman year.Fresh Prince of Bradleyville wrote:Being on the front of MSHSAA's home page.
Hm... Leaving for senior trip in about 37.5 hours? Being home from state academic bowl? Winning?

Things that don't suck
The National Dish of Brazil, which I couldn't Spell if I tried and even if I could I couldn't figure out how to say it anyways, but it is amazing. It is the 2nd most Delicious dish I've ever had with beans it it, behind of course baked beans (specifically at three local BBQ Restaurants, Cookie for anyone who can guess which three, at two are very obscure on the KC BBQ scene, but anyways). It's black and has onderfull black beans in it with Pig Ear and Cow Tongue and a few other beef cuts. Trust me, it is awesome.

Things that don't suck
1) My new HDTV
2) Having no problem at all with the Ubuntu Nvidia drivers extending my screen to also use the HDTV, and being able to change configurations with no hassle at all.
3) My new Bluetooth keyboard and mouse connecting with no problem at all to Ubuntu.
Translation: I'm typing this post on my TV.
I was expecting to have problems with at least one of the components, and I suppose I did: for the HDMI input the TV was set to "natural" picture size by default which apparently overscans instead of using native resolution (which was very easy to change to the correct setting).
It seems GNOME doesn't quite handle menus properly. I had the TV as a second screen to the right of the primary monitor and menus appeared on the very right side of the main monitor, which doesn't quite work when the screens are back-to-back. I'll just use one or the other since the Nvidia configuration tool is able to handle that gracefully (and it avoids wasted work for the graphics card).
Bonus things that don't suck:
4) I get great over-the-air reception here
5) I got another TV tuner card for my computer a couple of weeks ago.
6) Recorded shows look awesome on the TV.

Re: Things that don't suck
My new 404 handler for moquizbowl.com.
Yesterday I made a simple database that has a "broken url" and a "fix url" that would redirect if a fixed url was present. For instance, if I created an entry for "/topic/7813249" with fix URL "/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1941", anytime someone tries to go to http://moquizbowl.com/topic/7813249 to get to the 2010 National Bids thread, instead of getting a 404 error it would redirect to the thread here. If a fix entry wasn't present in the database, it would show a 404 error, but it would log the request so I could periodically check the log and add fix entries.
Admittedly, that's not too exciting. What's really cool is that I extended it today to automatically resolve topic links. If it's a topic link that hasn't already been resolved, it loads the ZetaBoards equivalent (server-side), parses the HTML for the thread title, thread starter, and thread start time, then queries the phpbb3 database to find that thread. Once the thread is found, it adds a fix entry and redirects to the appropriate thread! Unless I messed something up, for most, if not all, cases, a Zetaboards moquizbowl.com URL should redirect to the top of the correct thread!
Of course, if someone goes to an old s4.zetaboards or s4.invisionfree link, it will still go to the archive, but the requester will still get the information they're looking for.
Glad to be going back to work tomorrow... I've literally been living on this message board or otherwise doing related things all weekend because of the migration!
