Post WIT at Truman State-April 6, 2013
Hello everyone!

Truman State University is pleased to announce that we will be mirroring the Western Invitational Tournament, a packet-submission tournament edited by Berkeley, along with Auroni Gupta and Jarret Greene and Jasper Lee of Ohio State, on April 6, 2013. I apologize for it being the week before ICT, but that was the only date that would work for us.

Tournament Fees:
$120 Base Fee
$10 Buzzer Discount
$10 Per 200 miles traveled (one-way as determined by Google Maps)
$10 Staffer Discounts

I highly encourage teams to bring moderators and buzzers, since that will help the tournament to run faster. We will provide staffers with a lunch (and maybe a breakfast too). If you are paying with a check, please be sure to make it out to “Academic Competition Organization.” Also let me know if you need an invoice to have your business office pay us.

Logistics:
This tournament is going to be held in Baldwin Hall, which is where we held SCT and QUARK. We'll be meeting in the Little Theatre (Room 176) in the morning.

This tournament is packet-submission. If your team has a player that played a regular, collegiate, academic quizbowl tournament before September 1, 2011 on it, then you will be required to submit a packet.

Packet Schedule:
($120 base fee)
January 1 (-$50)
January 6 (-$25)
January 20 (No Penalty)
February 3 (+$25)
February 17 (+$50)
After February 17: Some Large Fee TBA

Distribution:
5/5 Literature (1/1 American, 1/1 British, 1/1 European, 2/2 Your Choice)
5/5 History (1/1 American, 2/2 European [at least 1 British], 1/1 World, 1/1 Your Choice)
5/5 Science (1/1 Biology, 1/1 Physics, and 1 question each on chemistry, earth science, astronomy, math, computer science, and science history)
3/3 Religion, Mythology, and Philosophy
3/3 Fine Arts
1/1 Social Science
1/1 Trash
1/1 Geography, Current Events, or Your Choice

Packets should be emailed to Tanay Kothari (tanay.kothari@gmail.com) with the subject line “WIT Packet: [Team Name].”

To register, please email me (Jacob O'Rourke) at jacob.orourke.7@gmail.com and tell me how many teams, buzzers, and moderators you will be bringing. I hope to see everyone in Kirksville on April 6!

Because I realize I wasn't clear about this, I'm allowing for open teams of high school students to attend this. If you're in college, you need to play with people who attend the same institution.

I had a conversation with Auroni about this. For now, no open teams (although high schools are still welcome to attend if they're interested).

We still have about 3 weeks before the tournament date and plenty of room if anyone else would like to register a team. If you're interested, shoot me an email!

Congratulations to Wash U, who won our mirror of WIT by clearing the field. Lincoln Land won the second place game over Mizzou 180-105 after they split their first two games.

Stats can be found here.
