Harry Potter 90210.

In all seriousness (heh, the aspiring screenwriter of vulgar golf movies commentating on Harry Potter) HPB was one of the better ones in the series, (i'm not gonna gush. I reserve that for my own works of genius) and it does well to tie up the loose ends from the previous 5 books and set up for the final one. I'm sincerely hoping that the Seventh has a lot of "flash forwards" or at least a prologue so we see how everything turns out. Rowling didn't use her standard formula from the last books (not that there's anything wrong with it) so that was a bonus, and she made everything clean and clear cut

Character wise, everything was all right. Harry was a bit off kilter. I'll chalk that up to being 16 (or me reading it from 10:00pm to 6:00 am... meh) and his obsession on Malfoy. I'm just gonna be honest and say that he and Ginny just go ahead and marry each other already. Loose the tension. And of course, Harry made his patented dumb move (tm) and slashed Malfoy, giving himself detention. Meh. Every other person was the way they should've been, well aside from the whole murdering professor and student so that was aight too.

The ending... I was spoiled, so I wasn't shocked. Other message boards are trying to explain it away, like Snape was forced to kill, or Dumbledore dodged it by transfiguring or whatever... But it's pretty closed to interpretation folks. He be dead.

I think I heard it from some pop song long ago? I'm not going to claim credit for it, I'm not that clever. (or something)

Most people probably want to think that, but it is hard. Rowling might be trying to get everyone mad at Snape and then make him be the hero of the next book.

Hopefully the last book will be nice and long, at least 1000 pages.....yup. It's kinda sad to think that the seventh is going to be her last. Everything should be cleared up, especially Snape's role in this. J.K. Rowling said she might write more books about Harry if he doesn't die in the last book, so who knows what will happen?

Not to break anyone's heart here...but here are two pieces of fact:

1. JKR has already established that book 7 will be shorter than Order of the Phoenix...therefore, 1000 pages is out of the question.

2. There will be no eighth book. She said she may write another, but it will be an encyclopedia of sorts about the series, not another story.

Once again, I apologize for stating these facts to you poor souls.

Geez...you just had to go and burst my bubble of hopefullness. Yes, I already figured that the book would be shorter, I think even JK stated that the fifth book was going to be the longest. Maybe I was wrong, but I could have sworn that JK had been thinking about writing another HP book that wasn't an encyclopedia, but I was probably mistaken. Oh well.

Thank you for answering my rhetorical question, that really furthered the discussion.

(Sorry.)

Seriously, though...people are upset about this book. If she killed Harry--or probably even Hermione or Ron--people would throw rocks at her.

I wouldn't...

Matter o' fact, I'm just fine if all three of them die at the hands of Voldemort in the next book, but it probably won't happen. Or better yet, die at the hands of Snape!

I didn't say plenty of people, I said me...

I wouldn't mind if all of them died...I can't speak for anyone else. Actually, I'm hoping that when Voldemort and crew (crew = Death Eaters, obviously) are on some Muggle killing raids, the Dursleys bite the dust too. How cool would that be?

I'm not a regular user of this forum, but I'll say that

I like Snape.

I think he's still trustworthy. Before everyone gets on me for still liking him, consider the situation--he's made an unbreakable vow to protect Draco; the Dark Lord expects Snape to finish the job if Draco is unable to do it.

I still think he's a spy for the good side. Obviously he is doing a very convincing job of siding with the Dark Lord, but any misstep on Snape's part could reveal his allegiance to Dumbledore and such, and that would get him nowhere except for a very painful death.

Let's face it, in order for Harry to truly grow up, he has to be set free of Dumbledore.

I'm expecting Snape to sacrifice his own life for Harry's in the next book--or some other drastic circumstance revealing his allegiance.

bah. Snape could've NOT made such a vow, pretty easily even, as he could say it was treason against Big V or something.

I agree that Harry had to be set free of Dumbledore, but I think Harry need to learn a bit more about Voldemort and more powerful magic.

Snape might not sacrifice his own life but he might help Harry out if his hatred doesn't get the better of him or he might help him just to get him closer to Voldemort so Voldemort can fight him.

Wouldn't it be HILARIOUS if Snape turned out to be a wacko--schizophrenic, emotionally greedy lunatic who escaped from St. Mungo's?! I mean, it's totally unrealistic, but wouldn't it be hilarious? haha. i am laughing.
