BARGE at Mizzou - Sunday, January 15th
Hey all,
I wanted to see if people would be interested in attending a BARGE mirror at Mizzou. Because of all the high school events we're involved with, I'm wondering if hosting it on Sunday, January 15th (the day before MLK day) would be a better date. If January 15th really doesn't work, we can try to do it the next weekend, or perhaps some other date later in the semester. Obviously, this would be a pure open tournament. If you would want to show up on January 15th, please post here.
There's also potentially a trash tournament we could attach to this, a la what WUSTL did with their mini-trash tournament this summer.
EDIT: This is happening, see below.

Re: BARGE at Mizzou?
I'd definitely be up for an event like this.
EDIT: The 15th is probably the best date for this, also. I believe we're full of events until April, or something like that.

Re: BARGE at Mizzou?
I'm pretty sure most of our team won't be back on campus (or at least ready to go to a tournament) by 1/15, so we're probably going to the UIUC mirror the next week, assuming we have WUHSAC done already.

We for sure have the set and are going about reserving rooms, so I think this tournament will be on like Donkey Kong.

In that case...(since the forming of teams should scramble now) if anyone needs a teammate for this, let me know.

Re: BARGE at Mizzou - Sunday, January 15th
Hello everybody!
In the spirit of giving thanks, Mizzou is going to be hosting a mirror of Chris Ray's BARGE tournament on January 15th, 2012 (the Sunday before MLK day). This will be a cheap tournament to give thanks for people who have helped us out with all of our high school events. This tournament will be a regular difficulty (mostly) tournament that is 100% open: anybody can make up any team they want, no matter who they are.
We will be charging per person. We will charge $25 as a base fee for everybody. If you staff Tiger Bowl IV on December 3rd at MU, we will offer a $15 discount, and will offer $5 discounts for buzzers. We will have a minimum of $10 per person (to cover the mirror fee). There is no packet writing requirement.
We will also entertain running one or two side events. I think we will run Eyes That Do Not See III for free for anybody who hasn't downloaded it from the archives (be honest, cheating on this would be ultra lame).
Register by emailing me at CharlesDeesMOQBA@gmail.com.
Hope to see you at Mizzou in January, and hope to see you at Tiger Bowl to claim those discounts!

Re: BARGE at Mizzou - Sunday, January 15th
Is there anybody in/around St. Louis that could give me and maybe a couple of friends a ride to this?
Re: BARGE at Mizzou - Sunday, January 15th
I'm getting a team together for this.

There's a team together from Oakville for this, pending final confirmation.

Illinois will be sending 1 team, 3 buzzers, and 0 moderators to this mirror.
Re: BARGE at Mizzou - Sunday, January 15th
Tentatively put another team down with 1 buzzer.

What's the format of this tournament going to be? I know Illinois and both Chicago teams wrote packets for this tournament and I only see 10 registered teams.

Re: BARGE at Mizzou - Sunday, January 15th
UMSL apparently is dropping, so we're down to 9 teams. We'll probably do a round robin, then some sort of split for the playoffs. There aren't enough packets to run an advantaged final though, but considering that the alternate format to allow that is to only do 8 games plus a bye, this is certainly the lesser of two evils.

Also, the tournament will be in the Arts and Sciences building. Meet there at 8:30 and we'll start the tournament at 9. We'll run Eyes That Do Not See III after the tournament.

Re: BARGE at Mizzou - Sunday, January 15th
There was an unexpected addition to the field this morning, so I am curious to know if anybody in the nearby area reading this might be able to come staff so we can be a little less stretched.

Jeremy Gibbs crater (Chicago A) won the tournament, going undefeated at 12-0. I'm unsure exactly who else placed where, will post stats soon.
