Re: Missouri Quiz Bowl in 2010-2011

I motion to truncate "Clayton with Ikshu" and other variations to just "Clayton", and use some form of "Ikshu-less Clayton" to denote the special case in which Ikshu isn't there.

Re: Improving in science?

Oh sorry, I mean theory. I do just fine with calculations (plus they're on their way out of the distribution anyway.) Well, by "going over my head" I mean it's just something I don't recognize. Usually when the question really starts namedropping, they're at least familiar to me, but the l...

Improving in science?

Hi guys. I was wondering how I might be able to get better in the sciences, particularly math and physics. Classes are all fine and dandy, but for example (oh noes, anecdotal evidence!), even after honors chemistry, AP chemistry (5), and some semi-micro qualitative analysis, 3/4 of the chemistry que...

Re: UIUC Earlybird Tournament (October 23, 2010)

Wait, Charles, did our coach talk to you recently? Because when I spoke to him on Tuesday, it seemed like UIUC was a no-go, and so I was about to post that.. haha. Honestly, I'd love to go to this, particularly to see great teams and the hopefully high level of question quality that comes along with...

Re: UIUC Earlybird Tournament (October 23, 2010)

For the record, Eureka's interested. I'll get back to you after we figure out the travelling situation. Since it's only ~3 hours, it shouldn't be a problem to do everything in one day, but I don't know the details. How many spots are left?

So in summary, everyone was *this* close to making the playoffs? Haha, thanks Charlie. Looking at the individual scores, you guys did great :D

Re: NAQT selected as 2010-11 MSHSAA question provider

And what's more, each individual science catagory has at least as many tossups per game as U.S. history does! As a math/science player i'm not complaining, but that seems silly.

</distribution based complaints>

Re: NAQT selected as 2010-11 MSHSAA question provider

Now, I didn't see the original distribution, but only 1/1 pop culture the entire game? Though I don't think anyone has ever claimed that trash represents a significant number of points, that seems lower than usual.

Re: Random posts about music

Baww, how'd you get Prepare the Preparations with a signed lyric booklet? Ludo was here just a little while ago at vintage vinyl, by the way. Unfortunately, the gas to get there for me is roughly the cost of the album. Nonetheless, the album is great. Though I think it may be hard to beat "Love...

Re: Two Saints?

I am wondering though; if we were to get Two Saints rolling again, would it be possible to have two teams from Eureka play on the varsity level? We're all juniors and seniors now (well, I'm a senior at least.)

Re: Two Saints?

If it makes a difference, Eureka's still fully on board for another year of Two Saints. Certainly if one of the area coaches is willing to make the commitment, there'd be plenty of interest to hold at least a decently-sized conference.

Re: Missouri Quiz Bowl in 2010-2011

Yes! Top of the honorable mention list! Considering our shoddy-at-best performances on NAQT question sets, that's not bad XD. In addition: Here are the teams that are losing seniors who are vital to the success of the team. ... Eureka (Jason) It's true, a significant chunk of our points come from Ja...

Re: Who is everybody?

Hi everyone! I'm Will Alexander, from Eureka high school, and right now I play for Eureka's team. Next year, I'ma be a senior (class of 2011, woo!) Ideally, I'd like to attend Harvey Mudd or Caltech after I graduate, studying applied mathematics or engineering or whatnot. Something to do with math w...
