Funny things in Practice, etc.

Oh yes... at the Savannah tournament during lunch there was a spider walking across the floor at Subway, and Michael wouldn't step on it, so we ended up learning all of his phobias, so while we were practicing on the bus, Ryan yelled "LOOK, a flying snake!" and he actually looked back! And...

What's your favorite method of studying?

I have tried several methods, and I personally am not a big fan of studying straight from lists (especially when they're paragraphs and you can't cover the answers very effectively) I have had Ryan quiz me a lot on the way to tournaments; last year I made a javascript flashcard type game that was a ...

Yet again, no team shirts for us (it's not like we all remembered to wear them every tournament... thanks Michael). At least you won't be seeing us in t-shirts and jeans.

Last year the Varsity "don't know" answer was McCarthy, and JV's was Yom Kippur. I know there are some pretty pathetic answers we've given. I know one time in practice I said "Laclede" instead of (John J.) "Pershing"... sometimes knowing too much can screw you up. Anoth...

What kind of funny things have happened in your practices or any other Academic Competition-related events? One I remember is last year Kyle said "I try to avoid non-alcoholic beverages." Also, last year we made the buzzer system reset when several people buzzed in at the same time... Aman...

No that's just the name Kyle wanted to give it. I don't think the land they're buying for it is in Shoal Creek Valley... it's going to be Liberty North or something similar, but of course it won't be opening until 2010 or so.

Chris Halsey squeaked into the 8th slot on the Class 4 All-State last year with an average of 6.0 tossups/game. Our morning rounds seem very easy, meaning I may be able to rack up some tossups in the morning if I can beat Michael to the buzzer!! Of course, I've only played one quarter at State, so I...
