Advancing: Centralia (3-0), South Callaway (2-1)
Interesting that after our 4-1 record against South Callaway this season, and going undefeated in conference games (while South Callaway was 6-2) you would predict that they overcome the odds and manage to beat us in sectionals. Always one to cheer for the underdog I suppose?

Everyone, stop talking about this fantasy quizbowl crap. It's probably the stupidest thing that's ever happened on this board.

I think having a W/L thing is reasonable, but going down to the score and overtime is pretty... hardcore.

I can understand it not being your cup of tea, but why so ... vehement ... against it?

Because it's so dumb and it's forcing everyone else to wade through stupid lists of hypothetical game results, and on top of it now people are doing this whole "why are you underranking my team when we have a winning record against this other team you say will beat us" crap because of it. Either talk about district results here or split this thread far, far away.

Charles does have a point, I mean people who do all the fantasy football and baseball games live vicariously because people that do fantasy football and baseball "suck at life". I would think that people that are making up this fantasy scholars this are in the same boat with not much of anything to do. I'm sure most of you all who thought this up are have something better to do than fantasy high school quizbowl.

I don't have a problem with doing fantasy stuff. I think it would be kind of fun. The thing is, this thread is not the place. That's all.

Go underdog!

Sometimes you have to look at past results, too - consider that we went to state my sophomore year and placed 4th, while you all went last year and placed 5th. Not a big difference, I suppose, but still, there's a chance we could [sorry, "might have been able to, had this scenario occured,"] come back and beat you. Albeit not a big chance, but it was there.

And, really, you can't flaunt our conference results. No offense to them, but North Callaway, Southern Boone, and Harrisburg aren't exactly what I would call quality opponents. You really should be looking at results from tournaments like Warrenton (we got 4th), William Woods (we got 2nd, losing to Centralia), Richland or Helias (neither of which we went to).

Who wants to start up a Fantasy Quizbowl League? With my first pick i'd select Charles Dees (obviously). Then i could go for Ravi or Grant as a good math player...

No seriously guys, this is a little bit stupid.

Wow, look at C3D1's all-district team, with David Westrich at 267 ppg and eighth place under one tossup per game. Reflects the final score of 590-80...

EDIT: also note how David's ppg is higher than those of the other eight all-district members combined...

FURTHER EDIT: also note how all of the all-district members except one person (tied for 8th at 7 ppg) are from Notre Dame or New Madrid. How many teams were there?

I like how the top 3 teams in our district each had two members make all district team.

I'm guessing three? That's really the only way those statistics make sense...

Liberty only had one player make all district? I would think liberty should have had at least 2...

Allie and I were both given medals, so I don't know why it wouldn't say we both didn't make it.

That's really not hard to do if you have no real competition and have byes (by my count if there are 3 teams then ND would have had probably 2 byes).

Yeah, I mean David is a great player but when your only real competition for points comes from your own teammates, it's kind of just like a normal practice game for a district tournament.

Unless my eyes deceive me, an even more astounding stat from that district is that the high scorer for one of the teams (Clearwater) averaged .66 tossups per game. If they played 3 games, then that team's best player answered a total of 2 questions. Also worth noting is that all four players from both Notre Dame and New Madrid made All-district. There should be some angry people in Class 3 regarding the set-up of those districts.

.66PPG getting you into All-District is ridiculous.
