Rock Bridge WIT on Jan 19th

Post by bruins4life »

Rock Bridge High School is excited to announce the Second Annual WIT (Winter Invitational Tournament) on a set TBD. Rock Bridge will host the tournament on Saturday, January 19th, 2013 at RBHS in Columbia, MO. This tournament will be for Varsity teams, but you are more than welcome to bring B- or C- teams and/or Junior Varsity players.

The WIT questions will be written in a pyramidal format, using NAQT questions at the IS-Level, (IS-122). We will be following the 20/20 Tossups/Bonus model, similar to our tournaments in the past. This allows us to play the most number of games possible, so be prepared for a two full round robins in the morning and afternoon with an advantaged final to decide the champion.

Fees:
Base fee for the first team from each school: $70
Second or subsequent teams: $60
Travel discount for 100 miles or more one way: -$5 per team
Buzzer discount (buzzers must be functional): -$5 for each buzzer system

Right now, the field is capped at 32 teams, so register soon to guarantee your spot. Email me at girwin@columbia.k12.mo.us to reserve your spot(s), and we can finalize how many teams you will bring. We look forward to seeing you in January.

Field List 32/32 spots taken (11.13.12)
Boonville (1 team)
Brookfield (1 team)
Centralia (2 teams)
Fatima (2 teams)
Hallsville (3 teams, buzzer)

I've heard that it's using IS-120 or 122.

In case you haven't received Mr. Odzinski's email: Kirksville is not going to make this tournament. I can still come down and staff if you need me to.

In the midst of Superplayoffs right now.
Ladue A is 2-0 with wins of Hallsville B (670-170) and Hickman A (630-230)
Ladue B is 1-1 with a win over Hickman A (380-320... after being down 240-320 after TU 17) and then lost 270-290 to Hallsville's national-caliber sophomores.
Hallsvile B is 1-1
Hickman A is 0-2

Other playoff teams were: Hallsville A, SLUH A (t-5th) and Helias A and Waynesville A (t-7th).

Congrats to Ladue A for another dominating performance! Ladue B earned 2nd place after defeating Hallsville B and Hickman A (since the remaining 3 superplayoff teams had 1-2 records). Hickman earned 3rd place after two very close games in rounds 10 and 14 with Ladue B. Hallsville B split games, with Ladue showing that they are top-flight young team that we'll all have to contend with for the next few years (a la Ladue in 2010-11--yes, they are THAT good right now).

Overall and Superplayoffs combined http://www.hsquizbowl.org/db/tournament ... d_overall/

Special thanks to Charlie Dees, Coach Whelehon, Coach Loy, Kyle from Hickman and Jacob O'Rourke for being high-quality moderators who volunteered their valuable time to make this tournament happen well.

Good luck for the rest of the season!

Were bouncebacks used? I'm curious as to how SLUH B had points when Ladue A grailed round 3.

The seven toss-ups given to Rachel in round seven against Warrenton A should have gone to Aonghus.

Alex Harmata from Hickman A only played half of the game against Ladue C - he came from a basketball game right at the half.

I guess I'll pile on some corrections as well:

Round 2: I'm pretty sure the total score should have been 740, and Max should have been credited with one additional power (bringing our PPB that round to 25.29)
Round 3: Max had one less 10 (we didn't get a grail).
Round 5: My stats are switched with Haohang's.
Round 8: I had one more power.

Thanks for putting stats up so quickly, by the way (unlike the previous tournament I went to, *cough cough*)
