March 7 2020 Tournament - Oakhill Day School

Post by srawh »

The Oakhill Day School Spring Fling tournament will be held on Saturday, March 7th starting at 8:30am.

This tournament will feature a Middle School competition with 1-2 divisions (6-7th grade and 8th grade) and, if enough interested in generated, an elementary division open to grades 3-5th. Last year we had a total of 10 teams from 3 schools in the Middle School level!
Trophies and certificates will be distributed to the top three teams and individual winners.

In the past we have used Avery Tournament packages for the questions, however, we are researching other options at this time.

Tournament cost
$70 for the first team
Second or subsequent teams - $65 each
Discounts will be applied for:
-- teams traveling more than 100 miles (each way based on Google Maps) $10
-- teams providing a working buzzer set (for at least 8 people) $5
-- teams providing a scorekeeper $5
-- teams providing a competent moderator $10
** max discount $30

We will have lunch/snack items available for purchase as a QB Fundraiser. You may register using this link https://forms.gle/XGb5Tb44AKboYo6g7 or email: cody.walkerholmes@oakhilldayschool.org

Oakhill Day School is located in the Kansas City Metro area. We are specifically located in Gladstone, Missouri.
Please note we are not a MSHSAA affiliated school.
Please contact Cody.walkerholmes@oakhilldayschool.org to sign up for the tournament or for assistance with any questions!

In the past we have purchased tournament sets from Avery Enterprises but are open to considering other types of tournament sets used.

Missouri native and MOQBA member Alex Dzurick runs SAGES Quizbowl Questions, which specializes in questions for the middle and elementary school levels.

Another set, in Illinois' format, is available from former PACE President David Reinstein.

You'll likely find these questions more rewarding and informative while less gimmicky than Avery.
