Webster Groves Statesman Invitational II (1/25/20)

Post by scphilli »

Dear Coaches,

On behalf of the academic team of Webster Groves High School and their coach, Julie Burchett, I am pleased to announce the second Webster Groves Statesman Invitational, a varsity level event to be held at Webster Groves High School on Saturday, January 25, 2020. I, Sean Phillips, will be serving as Tournament Director for this event. The question set will be the SCOTTIE set provided by Glasgow High School of Glasgow, Kentucky. This set is also being used at a Fort Osage event and may be used at other events TBA so please note that you cannot attend both.

The fee structure for the event is as folllows:

-Flat $10 fee per team regardless of letter designation.
-Additional $70 for a first team and $60 for each subsequent team.
-$5 discount for each working buzzer system.
-$15 discount for providing each qualified moderator
-$10 discount for providing each scorekeeper.

The initial field cap will be 18 teams. Please limit your rosters to no more than six players per roster. If you have more kids, don't hesitate to add another team.

All registrations should be emailed to myself at seanqb1982@gmail.com

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you on January 25th!

Sincerely,

Sean Phillips
Tournament Director, Webster Groves Statesman Invitational II

Dear All,

First and foremost, there are two paramount words that must be said about today. Those are: THANK YOU. Thank you for your patience, thank you for those coaches that staffed, thank you for all the minor ways you made my job easier. Y’all rock.

Second, I need to thank all the coaches and Webster kids and Sullivan kids who helped run the rooms with such efficiency. So many of you said to me lovely things about how today went and I thank you; but truly I only look good because these guys make me look good. I’m aware and I give them the highest praise.

Stats are here:

Today for me marked an anniversary. I have been so lucky to run an event in the STL area for the last ten seasons. As I stare down the barrel of the gun that is the age of 40, I must say how great it is to work with in whatever way I can with such awesome young talent. We should all be very proud of what we bring to every Saturday. And I’ll be more than happy to join you in that happiness.

With Sincerity and Love,

Sean Phillips
