Pilot Grove Elementary AND Middle School Tournament

Post by iwinn44 »

We are pleased to announce that Pilot Grove will be hosting both a Middle School and Elementary Tournament on March 28th at Pilot Grove High School.
The elementary division will consist of grades up to 6th grade (usually 5th and 6th graders, but younger accepted).
The middle school division will be open to teams of 7th and 8th grades.

For both divisions, games will consist of 20 tossups worth ten points each, followed by rebounding three-part bonuses (worth 30 points). Tossups will include 15 point powers for early buzzes. There will be no 5 point penalties for interrupting the moderator during the tossup with an incorrect answer.

Team rosters will be limited to 6 players. Teams may play with fewer than four players, but should have at least two. Players may not change teams during the tournament.

The question set for the tournament will be 2020 SCOP MS10

- $65 for the first Middle School team for a school, $60 for each additional Middle School team
- $60 for the first Elementary team for a school, $55 for each additional Elementary team.
- $5 discount for a fully functional buzzer system.
- $15 discount experienced moderator
- $5 discount for teams traveling over 100 miles one way

The caps are set for 8 teams Middle School and 8 teams Elementary. If we have plenty of experienced moderators, we will raise the cap. With this cap, we will play round robin, with 4 morning rounds, break for lunch, and 4 afternoon rounds. Awards will follow the final match with medals for top 10 high scorers, and trophies for the top 3 teams.

If you are interested in attending the tournament, please email twinn@pilotgrove.k12.mo.us to register. Thank you!
