2021 MOQBA Fall Championship - December 11 at Columbia College

Post by Jeffrey Hill »

The Missouri Quizbowl Alliance is pleased to announce that we will be returning to Columbia College to host the MOQBA Fall Championship on December 11, 2021 in Columbia. We are incredibly grateful to Columbia College for welcoming us back to host this tournament in person. As this is one of MOQBA's flagship events, we expect to host a geographically diverse field and encourage high school teams from every area of the state to attend.

The MOQBA Fall Championship will use the 2021-22 New Enterprising Writers' Tournament (NEWT). At the time of this announcement, this set was not assigned to any other tournament in Missouri. It is your responsibility to ensure that your team has not previously heard this question set and will not compete in any other tournaments using this set. Question set assignments are subject to change at any time; a list of tournaments known to be using this set is available in the forum thread linked above.

For more information about the tournament and a link to the registration form, see the full announcement on our website.

32 teams from a tournament record 29 schools attended the sixth MOQBA Fall Championship at Columbia College.

After round 9, College Heights Christian A, Parkway West, St. Joseph Central, and Fair Grove advanced to the superplayoffs. After round 11, College Heights, Parkway West, and Central were tied at 2-1. This set up a two stage final, seeded by points per game within the superplayoff pool. Tied going into the last tossup, Parkway West won the first game 320-285 over Central to advance to the championship game against College Heights. While Parkway West had won the round 9 game 330-305 on the last tossup, College Heights emerged victorious in the finals rematch, 325-290, to repeat as champions of the MOQBA Fall Championship! As the only small school eligible team to reach the superplayoffs, Fair Grove earned their first MOQBA Fall Championship small school title.

See the full recap on our website.

Thanks to our incredible staff and everyone at Columbia College for a memorable return to in-person competition! Hope to see everyone join us again for the NAQT Missouri Qualifier on March 5!
