2022 NAQT Missouri Qualifier - March 5 at Columbia College

Post by Jeffrey Hill »

The Missouri Quizbowl Alliance is pleased to announce that we will be returning to Columbia College to host the NAQT Missouri Qualifier on March 5, 2022 in Columbia. We are incredibly grateful to Columbia College for welcoming us back to host this tournament in person.

This tournament will use the 2022 NAQT Division II Collegiate Sectionals question set, which is more challenging than NAQT's regular season Invitational Series questions but a step below the difficulty of NAQT's High School National Championship Tournament questions.

Registration for the Qualifier will open on Wednesday, December 15 at 6:00 AM, but interested coaches may complete this short form now to express interest and receive an email reminder shortly before registration opens.

Thirty teams from thirty schools attended the 2022 NAQT Missouri Qualifier at Columbia College on March 5, 2022.

After round 9, College Heights Christian, Parkway West, Clayton, and Ladue advanced to the top 4 superplayoffs. After round 11, College Heights and Ladue were both 2-1, setting up a one game final, which Ladue won 325-145 to earn their school's fifth 2022 NAQT Missouri Qualifier title! Clayton and Parkway West were both 1-2 and played a tiebreaker game for third, which Clayton won 375-125.

For the small school title, Fair Grove finished sixth overall while Eldon finished in eighth, setting up an advantaged final. Holding the advantage as the higher ranked team, Fair Grove won the first game 400-55 to earn their first NAQT Missouri Qualifier Small School title! As the only eligible team to advance to Consolation 2, Eugene was awarded the Very Small School title.

During the awards ceremony, we presented the MOQBA Values Award to coaches Jeff and Becky Carter of Central High School in St. Joseph for exemplifying the core values of sportsmanship, fairness, and integrity by helping the Savannah High School Quiz Bowl team get home safely after they were stranded following the North Kansas City Varsity Invitational. We commend Jeff and Becky for their selfless service and look forward to recognizing more outstanding individuals in the future.

See the full recap on our website.

Thank you to all of the students, coaches, staff, and everyone at Columbia College for another amazing tournament! We greatly enjoyed hosting so many talented teams and the uncommon opportunity to host such a large tournament with only one team from each school. We hope to see you all again next year!
