Patriot Academic Tournament II (01/29/2022)-Online using Google Meet
Dear Coaches,
On behalf of the academic team of Parkway South High School and their coaches, Scott Degitz-Fries and Allison MacDonald, I Jacob O’Rourke, am pleased to announce the second annual Patriot Academic Tournament brought to you by Parkway South High School, a varsity level event to be held at the high school on Saturday, January 29, 2022.
I will be serving as the Tournament Director for this event. The question set will be the SCOTTIE set provided by Glasgow High School of Glasgow, Kentucky. This set may be used at other events, so please note that you cannot attend any other tournament using this set. We would love to see you at Parkway South!
We will be requiring everyone to wear masks. There will be masks available at the entrance of the school in case someone forgets theirs.
The fee structure for the event is as folllows:
-Flat $10 fee per team regardless of letter designation.
-Additional $70 for a first team and $60 for each subsequent team.
-$10 discount for each buzzer system
-$15 discount for providing each qualified moderator
-$10 discount for providing each scorekeeper.
The initial field cap will be 18 teams. Please limit your rosters to no more than six players per roster. If you have more kids, don't hesitate to add another team.
All registrations should be emailed to me at jacob.orourke.7@gmail.com
Thanks and we look forward to seeing you on January 29th!
Sincerely,
Jacob O’Rourke
Tournament Director

The Parkway School superintendent just announced earlier today that January school-sponsored activities will have to be virtual or cancelled, so we'll be moving this tournament online, on the same date. We'll likely be using Google Meet for this tournament.

Here's the schedule for tomorrow.
The rooms have the links to the online game rooms. After round 5, I will update the playoff schedule (which is at the bottom) so that everyone knows where to play for rounds 6-8.

Re: Patriot Academic Tournament II (01/29/2022)-Online using Google Meet
Thank you all very much for attending the 2022 Patriot Academic Tournament. This tournament ran better than I ever dared to dream it would with us having to pivot to being online 3 weeks ago, and the willingness of you and your teams to roll with the punches was a great help with that.
Complete statistics from throughout the day can be found here.
Parkway West A defeated Okemos (MI) to win the title in the final, 470-175. Clayton A defeated St. Joseph Central A 440-230 to finish in third place.
Also want to give a big thanks to our staffers: Jeffrey Hill, Kyle Hill, Michael Menkhus, Julie Burchett, Alex Dzurick and Jacob Billingsley of the Missouri Quizbowl Alliance; Mike Sorice; Sharon Lorinskas; Lori Hattendorf and Neel Kotra, formerly of WUSTL; Jared Lockwood, formerly of Princeton and Hallsville HS; Jason Keller; Coaches Jason Loy of Sullivan; David Dennis of Washington; Andrew Darr and Andrew Reynolds of Centralia; Mary Aitken of Lutheran South; Holly Wooldridge, Holly Bennett, Rhonda Wertz and Rachel Walker of Westran; Drake Moss of Sullivan; and Alex Noll, Aidan Chastain, Allen Nieman, Mounica Valluru, Maanvi Aggarwal, Liza Musgrave, Yukta Gadireddy, Riley Darrough, Ansel Panicker, Walee Baig, Chloe Wasilewshi, Olivia Hartner, Nicky Jumps and Julian Foat of the Parkway South team.
Finally, I also want to give a huge thanks to Parkway South coaches Allison McDonald and Scott Degitz-Fries, along with my partner-in-crime, Sean Phillips, who were a big help behind the scenes with getting the kids trained as scorekeepers, assigning them and helping to let people into rooms and helping to respond to situations that happened to keep things running smoothly.
Thanks you all, and I hope to see you at this tournament next year (hopefully, in person)!
