Greyhound Invitational Novice Tournament (GINT) Clayton HS 10/21

Post by scphilli »

Dear All,

Adam Bergeron and I are pleased to announce that Clayton High School will be hosting a new novice scholar bowl tournament on Saturday, October 21, 2023. I, Sean Phillips, as well as Mr. Bergeron will be co-directing.

We are using the MOQBA Novice 2 set. If you register for this tournament, please ensure that your team does not attend another tournament using the same question set.

Each game will consist of twenty tossups and up to twenty bonuses. We will use fifteen point powers, no penalties for incorrect tossup answers, and bonuses will not rebound. Each team will be guaranteed at least eight games. Player eligibility is as follows: all freshmen and sophomores are allowed as well as juniors provided they have not competed at an HSNCT, PACE NSC, or NASAT.

We will begin with a cap of 12 entries. We will look to enlarge the event as staff and demand allows. Entry fees will be as follows:

First team from a school: $75
Each subsequent team: $65
Scorekeeper discount: $5 per scorekeeper as needed
Moderator discount: $10 per moderator as needed (moderators must be approved by the tournament director)
Buzzer discount: $5 per fully functioning system

You can register at the following link:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIp ... form?pli=1

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

We hope to see you at Clayton High on 10/21! Thank you!

Since we have staff for it and the first cap is almost full, we are going to expand the event to 18!

Bayless will need to go down to one (1) team for this tournament instead of two. Thank you.

Will there be concessions for lunch, or should people bring lunches?

We will not be providing concessions but we would be incorporating an hour or so lunch break. My recommendation would be to either go out during that time. If you are to use the Commons during that period for meals you have ordered in or brought in, please be respectful and clean up after yourselves. I am hoping to provide some ideas/numbers for ordering in if there is interest sometime next week.

As the last game of playoffs and consolations is ongoing, Parkway West and Clayton are undefeated and are playing what is essentially the first of a best of 3 final.
