Weaubleau Middle School Invitational - April 6, 2024

Post by Delmont@Weaubleau »

The Weaubleau Junior High Scholar Bowl team is pleased to announce the inaugural Weaubleau Middle School Invitational on Saturday, April 6, 2024, for middle school teams registered with MSHSAA for Scholar Bowl.

This tournament will be in the 20 tossup/bonus format using Sentinel CYBER #1A, which will also be used for a spring middle school tournament by Columbia Independent School on a date to be announced. You must not attend any other tournament using the same question set if you participate in our tournament. A list of all tournaments using this set is available in the linked announcement thread. We will be using 15 point powers but will not use negs. Bonuses will not rebound.

The field is currently limited to 12 teams, with expansion possible if enough staff volunteers are available. The field will be divided into balanced preliminary pools for five morning rounds. After lunch, all teams will be rebracketed into championship and consolation pools for three afternoon rounds. The pool format could change depending on the final number of teams, but all teams should expect to play eight or nine rounds. We will award trophies to the top 2 teams, and medals to the top 10 individuals in the preliminary rounds.

Check in will run from 8:00 to 8:30 AM, with a brief team meeting before round 1 is scheduled to begin at 9:00. We will break for lunch from 12:00-1:00.

The entry fee is $75 per team, with a $5 discount for bringing a fully functional buzzer system for eight players and a $10 discount for bringing a moderator. The maximum discount a team may receive is $20. We will initially limit each school to one team and place any additional teams from a school on a wait list. Any openings in the field will be filled from this wait list 3 weeks before the tournament. To register, please complete the registration form:

I look forward to working with you all in creating another quality quiz tournament for our middle school students. I look forward to your team's attendance.
