Eisenhower Memorial Tournament at WUSTL - 3/25/17

Post by Charbroil »

The Washington University Academic Team will be hosting a mirror of the Eisenhower Memorial Tournament on March 25th, 2017.

I, Charles Hang, will be the Tournament Director. To register for the tournament, or if you have any questions, please email me at charleshang228@yahoo.com.

Eligibility
The original tournament announcement wrote:Only undergraduate and high school students can play this tournament. If you are a grad student, you generally may not play. "Undergraduate" in this case does not follow the traditional ACF definition--fifth-year (or greater) undergraduates with no bachelor's-level degree are still eligible to play. (This is identical to the eligibility rules of last year's MUT.) Exceptions may be granted based on [Vasa Clarke's] discretion, depending on the state of the local circuit.
Time

Tournament check-in will begin at 8:30 AM, morning announcements will be at 8:50, and play will begin at 9:00.

Location

The tournament will probably take place in Eads Hall (Building 31 here). Any of the major parking lots at WashU should work for your parking needs.

Registration

To register, please e-mail me at charleshang228@yahoo.com with the following information:

1/ The number of teams you will be bringing
2/ The number of buzzers you will be bringing
3/ The number of players you will have, as well as their names.
4/ The number of staff you will be bringing
5/ A cell phone numbers for someone attending the tournament so I can reach you the day of the event in case of emergencies.

Fee Structure

Base fee: $100
Buzzer systems: -$5 each
Staffers: -$10 each
Travel: -$10 for every 200 mi. traveled

Minimum Fee: $40

Checks should be made out to "Washington University Academic Team;" we can also take cash payments, but greatly prefer payment by check.

Questions

The tournament will be using the Eisenhower Memorial Tournament set, a spiritual successor to past years' Minnesota Undergraduate Tournament (MUT) sets. Past MUT sets can be found here.

Field (To be updated as registrations and expressions of interest appear)

WUSTL 2
"idk"
"Sherman High School"
Chicago
Illinois Wesleyan
"Paul Manafortress of solitude"
WUSTL C + Cole

We are tentatively capping the field at 8 teams due to staffing limitations. If more teams than that express interest in attending, we are cautiously optimistic that we will be able to expand the field.

Please feel free to share this announcement with any schools that you think would be interested in attending.

Congratulations to Chicago (Max Schindler playing solo) for winning our mirror of the Eisenhower Memorial Tournament. He went 10-0 to clear the field.

WUSTL A and WUSTL B tied for 2nd with records of 7-3.

Final results can be found here; the top individual scorers can be found here.

Thank you to everyone who came to our tournament to play and staff!
